Maternal discharge information (for cesarean section)
What is the puerperium?
-It is 6~8 weeks after delivery, when the body returns to its pre-pregnancy state.
-If you are not breastfeeding, ovulation may resume at this time, so contraception is absolutely necessary during sex.
Postpartum check-up
· Initial: Day 6 after discharge (check for wounds and bleeding)
· Review: 8 weeks after delivery (recovery and gynecological examination) — mobile phone text call from the hospital.
Wound care after cesarean section surgery
· After the sutures are removed on the day of discharge, the wound will not be disinfected.
· For the prevention of keloid wounds, keloscar tape will be applied to the wound immediately after suture removal.
· When showering, the Keloska tape is separated from the wound and then showered, and the wound area is not rubbed.
· After showering, dry the skin and then reapply the keloscar tape.
· One sheet of keloscar tape can be used for about 1 month.
**Caution: If the caesarean section wound is open, reddened, or oozing, please do not apply keloscar tape and come to the hospital.
Postpartum pain & Oro
- Postpartum pain: Pain caused by the uterus contracting to stop bleeding. (It is more severe in both multiparous woman and lactating mothers, weakens over time and occurs only during lactation).
-Postpartum pain is an indicator of good uterine contractions.
- Oro: -Discharge of debris, blood, and tissue in the uterus after childbirth.
-At first, the red → gradually fades, and after about 10 days, it becomes light yellow and colorless.
**If it lasts more than 2 weeks or if you smell bad, you may have endometritis and need to see a doctor.
Postpartum hemorrhage
If the bleeding that has been decreasing suddenly increases, there is a possibility of residual placenta, poor uterine contractions, or endometritis, so visit the hospital immediately.
